AM - 10x800's. 2.7 mile warmup from home to PVHS. Then 10x800's. I really didn't know what to expect from this workout. I hoped it would show signs of improvement, but I realize I haven't done a workout like this in a month. They were slower than I thought. The first 5 were right around 2:55 give or take a second. Then my right hammy really tightened up and I had to stretch it a lot. 6 was 2:53, but at 7 it tightened up again and I slowed to a 2:58. Stretched really good again then 8,9, and 10 all slowed to over 3:00. Then cooled down with a mile. I was pretty disappointed about it all. (Stratus red 258.8)

When I was trying to decide whether or not to still do SLC I mentioned I didn't want any 2:35 is okay comments. Now I am pleading for a 2:35! Actually, I have decided (at least for today - and I hope I can change this later) that my realistic goal for SLC is going to be 2:50. What a bummer after such a strong winter.

evening - 3.5 Ran home from school after the track meet by way of Cottonmill East to extend it a little. (Stratus red 262.3)

Now, I am no great runner, but I have seen you train so hard, and I think you can do a 2:35. You have been training so hard all winter, and you still have over a week. I think you will reach your goal dave. I really do. You are an amazing runner, and you deserve it!

Dude I still think your fitness is still there. You've just got to work a few little things out from your sickness. I know it's easier said than done but try not to think about the race or even next week. Just go out and try to "run" just like you have all winter. Then after a solid week of high mileage this week- totally taper off next week to give your body that rested feeling. I still think you can go run great.

2:50 ha ha ha ha. you walk faster then that. I personally witnessed you pound me in the ground at mile 12 last Saturday! 2:35 will be for your taking!

dave i think that all of your fitness is still there. i believe that when you have a couple of weeks off your body takes that chance to rebuild. i was looking at my training last sept before SGM and i basicall cut my mileage in half from my peak training month. i felt like it helped me. mileage is just a number. you have plenty of mileage now just listen to your body, get some rest, do some tempos. if your body is healthy then i think you will do great.

you're a dork. Like singing primary songs will help me get up easier.

i still think you will have a good race. i was running 40-45 miles a week last summer and many of you guys thought i could break 3hrs in the marathon and i probably could have but i ran conservativley. on your 100 mile weeks and your rest time being sick you should still rock it. good luck.
