AM - 5 Washington Loop w/ Turtle Creek. Maybe I shouldn't have been so excited to get back going. From the very first step my hips were in... a lot of pain. So sore and tight throughout. My breathing was so horrible that I nearly puked all the wretched food I have inhaled in the past week. It's all okay, though; first one down. Got my whole winter planned up to LA; and hopefully I'll hear back from them soon about getting in. (Stratus red 540.05)

I keep forgetting to ask you if your dad grabbed my hat in Veyo. I threw it in his direction when you threw yours but I'm not sure if he saw me or not. It's crazy but it's time to start wearing one again.

Yes, I have it. If I remember, I'll drop it by on my way home today.

Dave, are you talking about the LA Marathon in Feb? Are you trying to get elite status (I would imagine) or is there a limited amount of entries? I've been thinking about doing this marathon as my redemption marathon. I did a brief job yesterday over to my in-laws while Jansen was riding his bike, boy I was winded. I haven't got on the scale since before the marathon, so I'm interested to see where I'm at. I'm planning on starting back to training this week.

I meant to say a brief jog not job, though I did a job also. I would imagine with the cooler temperatures the last few days, the Holt Pool might be closing down for the season?

From Jon on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 16:29:43

Not sure which is more amazing- that you took the whole week off, or that you are still sore...

We need to do a fun run on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday of this week due to UEA. Camping could be involved? Let me know what you think.

From dave holt on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 09:27:51

Jon, my wife just laughed at me when I mentioned that was my plan - she didn't think there was any way I would be able to do it. I guess I showed her who wears the pants!

Logan I am up for most anything - camping might be a little chilly!

Dustin, I am planning on running LA. Al and I were going to take a trip down there before track season anyway, so when I saw they changed the date, I decided to contact them about elite.

Sunny and I were thinking along the same lines, a little trip to LA for the weekend. I think if I sign up for a marathon it will help me train better through the next few months.

I took the scouts camping (my last one in the old ward as scoutmaster) up to Pine Valley last weekend. It was definitely a little chilly up there. My young men had to do a 25 mile bike ride. It was pretty sorry they biked from Pine Valley to Gunlock, mostly downhill in 3 hours 20 minutes, yes slower than I can run a full marathon, cramped up and in crappy weather.

Dave, Thanks I am just trying to run in your foot steps. 2:30 was awesome and a 2:26 pr is smokin. You will have to let me know your secret. How long did it take to recover from your first marathon?

Forgive me I'm new here, I posted this here and my site. I'm not sure how it exactly works. Anyway thanks for the post.

From dave holt on Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 14:46:39

Adam, sometimes I am not sure how to do it as well. Usually just continue the discussion on the blog where the original post was started.

I take forever to recover from marathons. It will be many many weeks before I even feel like I have my legs back. I think you are going to smoke a marathon in the future - just depends on how much you want to train.

by the way... when you I clicked on your name to go to your blog, it took me to one of the other adams. I am not sure how to fix this, but maybe bring that up to Sasha or someone more knowledgeable.

From Jon on Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 15:17:33

To fix the link for Adam's name, he needs to fill in the "Blog web address" with his blog name (i.e. Holt, Notso, etc). I don't think you need the .fastrunningblog.com part.
