AM - 15 Fields Loop.  Out early today before a slew of family events.  Had a lot of time to think out in the dark by myself this morning and that kept my mind off my knee for the most part.  Started to hurt at about 4 and just ached a little throughout.  Actually felt okay.  First run with an average under 8:00 that I have worn my watch on since the marathon!  About time.  New pair of Cumulus 10's.  (Cumulus gold 15)

Week was okay.  Mileage was a good build up, but runs weren't all that great - slowly coming along, however.

Goals for next week:  keep getting knee to feel better. Get back to 100 milers if body always.

AM - 6 Dogpound.  Somehow I slept in a little and wasn't able to get in my full run.  Too bad, because I felt great this morning.  No knee pain at all (I had Al walk on my hammies Sat. and I think it hit the spot).  Maybe things are turning the corner from St. George.  (Landreth 493.35)

afternoon - 12 River Trail. Started out with the team as they went out 4 and back.  I kept on going and went down toward the DC and turned it around at 6.  Felt good but a bit fatigued.  No knee pain again!  (Cumulus white 367)

AM - 8.05 Green Springs w/ extensions both ways and past cemetery.  Run was okay, but I wasn't too strong.  Pretty slow; but again no pain in knee (hopefully that is done with).  (Landreth 245.35)

afternoon - 15.25 The Beast.  Boys took me through the wringer today.  Warmed up by going out to vote and back with a little extra as I waited for school to get out.  Then we warmed up to Harts.  Then we hit the 600,800,1000,1200 workout (3 sets) that I have worked the Varsity boys up to.  They wanted me to feel how tough it was... and it was!  Not the hardest workout ever, but a dandy.  Hit the times very solid - better than I thought I would, and tried to hang in there with the boys.  Austin pretty much owned me.  Then cooled down for 1.5.  I will be sore tomorrow.  (Stratus black 25.25)

AM - 8 Factory Stores.  After a real stiff slow beginning things went okay.  A little chilly out this morning, but really still not too bad.  Hopefully I worked out most of yesterday's workout.  (Cumulus blue 422.4)

afternoon - 10.7 GS/PL/WT.  A poor run.  Very tired in the legs and it showed.  Coming down turkey farm and down to the school, where I usually ave near 6:00 pretty easy, I was barely getting under 8:00.  That shows the body and legs need a little rest break - I'll take it tomorrow morning.  (Cumulus gold 25.7)

evening - 10.15 Club run.  The extra sleep treated me well.  Although I wasn't really tired, my legs enjoyed the time to recover this morning.  On the run it showed as I wasn't as dead.  It was good to talk about some issues that have come up that are really bugging me.  But it was difficult to learn that the Circle had been broken (Logan knows what I am talking about).  (Stratus bee 355.5)

AM - 8 Middleton.  Today wasn't a good run as my mind just raced about recent events in a very negative way - I could have used music on this one to distract me.  The run was actually okay, just not my thoughts.  (Cumulus blue 430.4)

afternoon - 9.05 Dog River.  Combination of dog pound and then onto the river trail and up the trail to nowhere and back to school.  In the last two miles from AC to Harts, I beat all the cars.  I bet they felt stupid stuck in traffic and getting passed over and over again by a runner.  Today I was actually able to hit the last 3 miles in the low 6's without much effort; it just took 6 miles of 8 minute running to get the legs flowing.  (Landreth 502.4)

morning - 18.2 Kayenta from SCHS w/ Clyde.  A god solid run.  Temps are the most amazing things in the world.  It would be heresy to miss running outside on a day like this.  Run went well, wasn't bugged by anything too much and it actually ended up being my best ave. since the SGM at 7:10.  After finishing, watched the end of the SC 1/2.  (Cumulus gold 43.9)

Went was solid.  Was able to take it over 100 even with letting myself sleep in one morning.  Had a very good interval workout back on Tuesday.  And legs may be coming back.

Goals for next week:  Again be over 100 (I pretty much just want to finish the year there 100-115).  Be positive in all aspects of life.

AM - 8.05 Green Springs w/ extension.  Run went pretty solid for a start of the week.  Kind of carrying a little extra from the weekend.  Started at 155.  (Cumulus white 375.05)

evening - 10.  Started w/ a mile on the treadmill; then ran Grapevine and extended it down into Coral Canyon; finally ending with 1.4 on the treadmill again.  Had to hit the wierd schedule with Al shuttling the kids around.  A real good run.  Had a few solid sections that were below 7:00.  No knee pain for the past week and trying to keep this possible sports hernia as calm as possible.  (Stratus black 32.25)

AM - 8 Middleton.  Just a nice chilly run.  Nothing too quick or spectacular.  (Cumulus blue 438.4)

afternoon - 13.45 River Trail Bloomington Hills loop.  A nice little run.  Wasn't too quick, but I did hit a okay average and a solid uphill mile back to the school.  (Stratus bee 368.95)

afternoon - 12 GS/PL/WT then extended around DI loop and a big loop.  Today's run was much better than last week's on the same trail.  Had a little more in me.  (Cumulus white 387.05)

Don't know how much I'll get in the rest of the week, some major family stuff going on up in SLC.

It has been a strange week.  I had planned on running up in SLC, but we had major car problems before we left and that got me down, the idea of a funeral got me down (with all that has happened to us the last few months), and my lower abs hurt enough to make me not want to even do anything.  All this combined to really bum me out.  So I didn't run and haven't run since.  Actually my abs are feeling a little better and I WANT to run a little (5ish) today which is something that I haven't wanted to do for what seems like forever - even though it has only been a week - so I'll try it.  I've decided I am going to cut back quite a bit until I get some enthusiasm back - that may be months or just a few days; I don't know.

afternoon - 5 Mall Run.  Not too bad of a run.  Started off with the usual aches and stiffness that should be expected after a little time off, but they all mostly worked their way out.  A touch of inner hip pain (hip flexor area) - I wonder if this is what is causing my lower ab stuff since it seems to radiate into that area.  Did some active strecthing for cool down.  (Cumulus blue 443.4)

evening - 7 Club run.  I guess the group is meeting earlier, because I missed them.  So I ran the usual run backwards thinking I might bump into them, but the must have done something else/more.  Anyway, the run was pretty decent.  Still an aching pain persisting in the right hip flexor.  Worked on my active stretching and am icing and ibo'ing.  (Stratus bee375.95)

morning - 11 Junction/Coral Canyon w/ James.  Had a good little run talking about all sorts of stuff.  Same level of pain in hip/ab.  It seems to have really calmed down this week and is isolated to more of a surface muscle level pain in the inside hip/lower ab.  Usual drills and core/ice/ibo (Cumulus gold 54.9)

I started running again this week; that's about all that can be said about it.

Goals for next week: step it up a little if the injury can handle it.  I am going to try and hit some 10k training stuff this winter instead of the mileage approach I have used for awhile, but that will require pain free running as possible; we'll see what happens.

afternoon - 10 dog pound/trails run backward with some extensions.  First few steps were great as there was absolutely no pain.  By the end there was very minimal pain in the hip flexor area.  So hopefully things are working a little.  (Stratus black45.25)

Afternoon - 9.5 - 2x2000.  2450 warmup w/ Austin then 2000's.  I wasn't really sure how many I would be able to do, and I knew that the pace wouldn't be super since I hadn't done anything like this in awhile.  Hit the first in 6:38 (5:15 at the mile) then had a 2 minute recovery and did the second in 6:43 (5:20 at the mile).  Would like to have done more, but figured this isn't the time to really kill myself, rather just get a baseline and go from there.  Finished with another 2450 and then drills.  Today, no pain!  (Cumulus gold 64.4)

afternoon - 10 Fields and DI.  Went out for a wet chilly run w/ Austin into the fields and finished with DI loop.  Could feel the 2000's in the legs, but no pain in hip flexor/abs again.  Ended with drills core.  (Cumulus white 397.05)

noon - 8 Middleton.  Still very wet and rainy out, so that threw off my plan of heading out onto some trails.  Like yesterday, had some fatigue in the legs and just took it very easy.  (Landreth 510.4)

noon - 10.25 10x400m hills at Highland.  Ran up to Highland and thought the hill up toward the park would be a good one for some hills (nothing Sunrise steep, but a solid incline where I would be working and still trying to make it fairly fast paced).  From the light up to the 3rd street on the left was exactly 1/4 mile for future reference.  At first, I was still dragging, but by 5 my legs were juicing up a bit.  Then the last three I really worked - especially the last.  I really tried to keep my best form focusing on lean and leg rotation.  Then jogged it back on home.  (Cumulus blue 453.65)

morning - 14 Hurricane Trails.  The Circle and Ruthie went for a nice run around the trails out in Hurricane.  Started out at the canal trailhead and connected to the rim and jem trails.  Had to end with a little xc and down the road.  It was okay though, because the distance was enough for all of us.  (Landreth black 265.35)

Week was a success.  Mostly because my pain was very little at first and by the end of the week basically nonexistent.  And I was even able to get a couple decent/quicker workouts in with no side effects.

Goals for next week:  Mileage is staying low (55-60).  Hopefully I can stay pain free - goal for that is to continue to do core workouts, drills, ice, ibo and rest.  We (PVXC) are going to have a time-trial on our school course in a few weeks and I wouldn't mind being able to hang near the top guys!
