AM - 6 2xAC.  A little sore in the hip this morning; and I wasn't sure why until I realized I didn't take the time to work over my legs or do my little yoga routine yesterday due to being rushed out for Halloween stuff.  That's a good reminder about why I need to do that each run.  (Stratus grey 871.85)

afternoon - 11 Grass/Old Man.  Parent-Teachers tonight and tomorrow; so I sneaked out a little early during my prep and hit 6.5 miles barefoot on the football field turf (the baseball field was just reseeded and being watered, so I needed to stay off).  Then transitioned that into running out to the Old Man's where the kids were going to do a hill workout.  (Barefoot '11 167.5)(Old Ohana -4.5)

AM - 6 AC/Lutheran.  Very tired this morning and a little too unenthusiatic.  But got it done.  (Altra 292)

afternoon - 12 Grass/Nissons.  Went out and got some more grass running today before Parent Teachers.  Luckily, though, I was able to get on the baseball field and run on real grass (and nice it is nice)  Then finished up with 5 with the boys around Nissons.  Hip feeling a bit better than yesterday.  And although I didn't really want to get out much this afternoon, once I got going, it was great.  (Barefoot '11 174)(Kinvara 491.65)

AM - 11 AC/Target.  Hit a little more this morning, but I wish I would have forced myself to get up earlier like I had planned an hit above 15 since I don't think I'll get a longer run in this week and today would have been the perfect time.  However, I am just spent (needing sleep) and needed to rest until my normal wake up time.  A lot on my plate right now with XC still going, Parent Teachers this week, Halloween (which didn't take any time, but made it so I wasn't home), and of course the new Church stuff.  Busy.... (Hyper Speed 84.25)

afternoon - 11.5 Grass.  Warmed up and cooled with DI.  Did the workout with the boys today of 800,1000,1200,1200,1000,800 and 3x400 all on the grass.  Felt pretty decent and hanged in there okay.  Happy to see the progress of some of the younger guys.  Girls are doing very well too.  Finished up with Molly's Mile.  (Last Ohana 239)

AM - 11 Mall/AC/Lutheran.  Got up early this morning since I won't get much this evening as we will be up in AF for a race tomorrow.  Felt slow and tired today and my knee was pudgy.  Body is just not used to as many miles as I have done this week.  (Oregon 179.5)

evening - 5 Pleasant Grove.  5 mile shake out with the boys after arriving up north.  It was a horrid run as I was about as fat as possible from 10 pieces of pizza - I haven't eaten like that since college.  (Stratus black 871.7)

morning - 7.5 AF.  Didn't want to get up early at all, so I just ran with the boys on their warm up and cool and then throughout the races.  Still ended up with okay mileage.  (NB 101 258.25)

Week was pretty solid.  Good mileage and good workouts.  Was pretty worn out by the end though.

Goals for next week: Hit around 100 again, have some good workouts, keep enjoying running.

AM - 9 GS/AC/Lutheran.  Used the time change to sleep in a little and still get up earlier, so I was able to get a few more miles in.  Ran quick.  Want to make both of those a goal throughout the week.  (Landreth blue 680.9)

afternoon - 14 Fields.  Ran through the Fields from school.  Thought about making a tempo effort out of it for a few miles, but I was worried about getting myself too worn down at the first of the week with the bigger mileage, so I never pushed it.  However, the pace was very solid throughout without the extra effort - average was just over 6:20 for the total run, with everything between 5:50 and 6:40.  Added Molly's Mile at the end.  (Rocket 153.5)

AM - 9 GS/AC/Lutheran.  Another good solid morning run, but it is getting colder.  (Altra 301)

afternoon - 9 Grass.  Ran a workout with the team sandwiched between DI warm and cool.  Went 800,1000,1200,1000,800,3x400 on the grass.  Wasn't as sharp as last time, due to my higher mileage.  And by the end, my left shin muscle was just totally inflamed.  So I jumped on that big time with ice and didn't add in the loop around the neighborhood with the dog to try and keep the mileage a little lower.  (Old Ohana -9)

AM - 6 AC/Hot Nails.  Although I had a good sleep and was basically awake, I slept in a little just because I didn't want to put too many miles on today.  My shin felt much better after wearing a compression sleeve all night and it didn't bug me on the run, but now (later in the day) it is starting to act up a bit again.  (Free 538.45)

afternoon - 7.5 2450 Grass.  Took it easy again this afternoon as to back off on the leg.  Team ran down to 2450 Park and ran barefoot.  That actually felt much better than this morning.  Striders were quick and fun.  Molly's Mile.  (Barefoot '11 178)(Boston 733.75)

AM - 6 2xAC.  Leg is still all sorts of burning up.  So took it easy this morning and will take the afternoon off (we have a time trial and then our banquet, so it is a good time to let it rest up).  The bummer is just that I had such a good week going and really feeling good about my running.  But got to let it get better.  (Stratus black 877.7)

afternoon - 5 Green Springs.  Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to even run, but gave it a shot and felt so-so.  But at least I hit a double today.  Maybe the leg will get feeling better this weekend.  (Oregon 184.5)

morning - 15 Chuckwalla.  Great trail run this morning.  Ran with Steven and two guys from up north - Ken Richardson and Riley Croft.  They seemed like great guys and chatting it up really helped the mileage just fly by on an awesome morning on a great trail.  Temps were so nice, I shed my shirt.  And the shin felt great; maybe its turning a corner?  (NB 101 288.25).

Bummer that my shin developed this dang tendonitis otherwise it would have been an awesome week.  But life is good.

Goals for next week: going to be a busy one.  Full slate of meetings (like usual now) and off to Phoenix on Thursday evening, so I'll do what I can.  #1, get the leg feeling better.

AM - 8 Middleton.  Mostly morning runs will be from my house now - and that will be the real test of the winter... will I wake up to run or give myself excuses; there are always excuses.  Today, got up; I won, not excuses!  Monday's, however, aren't usually that tough for me to get up, it is later in the week that sleeping starts to look real good.  (Rocket 161.5)

afternoon - 11.25 PVMS/DI/2450.  Ran down to the middle school for a little workout of Wave Hills and then back to school for some 200's and 100's (which I just ran - nothing hard for me; leg wouldn't like it right now) and then DI for cool.  I then continued on with 2450.  Then Molly's Mile at home.  (Boston 755)

AM - 8 Mall.  Tried to give into the excuses this morning (tweaked my back a little yesterday), but still got up for some reason.  Glad I did, run was good.  Some pretty good progress with the leg these last few days.  Have been wearing compression socks through the weekend and the last couple days and that seems to really help control the pain and make stuff improve.  So hopefully only a few more days and I'll have that taken care of.  (Hyper Speed 98.25)

afternoon - 10.25 PVMS/DI.  Ran over to middle school and ran a few miles on the grass over there (not barefoot, however) and then finished off the PVMS loop.  I extended up around the DI and then Molly's Mile at home (with a little extra).  Felt very clunky and like junk today.  Goal for me is to get it through Thursday morning - then the rest of the week will be much lighter, being down in Phoenix.  (Landreth blue 691.15)

AM - 5 Parkway.  Just 5 this morning.  I decided that when I get home later from meetings (like seems to be the usual on Tuesdays now) that I'll reward myself with about 20 extra minutes of sleep.  Doesn't seem like much, but it helped me get up and get going this morning.  Shin... slowly improving.  (Oregon 190.5)

afternoon - 10 Green Springs.  Went up to GS with the team and then added some stuff somewhere while wearing some shoes(?).  Too tough to remember when it has been almost a week.  So one pair of shoes' count will be off.

pm - 9.25 Flagstaff.  Lazy this morning and didn't get up.  I have been using my shin as an excuse to chill in the morning and sleep in, and then add in today's long drive and there was enough excuses right there.  So after getting to Flagstaff, I went out and had a great run along Route 66.  Averaged around 6:20 pace for the run and just zoomed it.  (Ohana racers 614)

morning - 10 Phoenix.  Found a canal trail just past the hotel that was way better to run on than the city streets.  Slow and tired on the way out.  Then on the way back, pushed it to Tinman pace and the time just flew.  (Rocket 178)

Week was okay.  I need to get on top of my mornings better though.

afternoon - 12.5 Foremaster/Dog Pound.  Ran Foremaster and then stopped off to run Wave Hills - they did not treat my leg well at all.  Finished up by going around Dog Pound - where I felt much better - and then Molly's Mile.  Laney rode her bike like usual, but she was wearing those funny face glasses with a mustache and big nose; she was hilarious!  (Boston 767.5)

afternoon - 8.75 Michigan.  Michigan with a DI warm and cool.  The workout went real well - actually the first time that I have hit the A standard (I think I ran twice last year, and this was the first try this year), and hit A in each of the 5 sections as well.  Wanted more miles, but the afternoon was much busier than I wanted and I wasn't able to get any more.  This week is just a sham for mileage for me, I can tell.  I am not really in a running mood and I don't know why... actually not really in much of a mood for anything.  (Hyper Speed 107)

AM - 13 Target.  Up at a decent early hour to get a run in before heading up to SLC.  Had to deal with the dang rental vans from the trip to Phoenix and that just put me in a bugged more - added to all the other stuff that is bugging me (which I can't really put a finger on anyway).  But the run was good, although just basically slow and chill.  Finished up with Molly's Mile.  (Mana 118.25)

late morning - 20 Dimple Dell.  Hoped that some trail running down in the Dimple Dell Canyon would perk me up a bit.  Passes numerous host of Turkey-Bowlers while I head the mile up the road to the Granite Park access for my little Thanksgiving tradition of a great trail run.  It was enjoyable, at times, but also a bit of a struggle.  I tried not to fight the parts that were tough - tough both physically and mentally - and just enjoy the parts that were fun.  The best part, like always was down in the stream bottom on the single track, so I doubled back on that section and actually headed up it again.  Ran about half the run shirtless... on Thanksgiving... in Salt Lake.  Crazy.  (NB 101 293.25)

late morning - 20 Bonneville Shoreline Trail.  Ran from Hidden Valley up on the BST.  AFter a few miles, I took one of the trails up the front of the mountain (it was called something about an Eagle).  It was a pretty intense trail and a very good workout for upcoming goals.  Then I barreled down that trail as I know that downhill on technical stuff is probably my weakest point of trail running.  Luckily I did this at the first of the run because I was blasting and would have killed myself if I was as tired as I was at the end of the run.  Kept going on the trail up into Corner Canyon and enjoyed some cool waterfalls and muddy and snowy sections of single track.  Really enjoyed the run, even being pretty worn down by the end.  I can't believe I have never run this trail before (although I tried a few years ago and it wasn't complete/open) as it is now my favorite trail run.  (NB 101 313.25)

morning - 20 SLC.  A few facts: 3 consecutive 20's is much harder than one might think (especially when the first 2 are on trails); I am very tired; this was a very mentally and physically demanding end of the week.  Somehow I made it through.  Kind of ran all over the place, up the south entrance to Little Cottonwood and down the north, then on Danish and Creek Rd, then around Cottonwood Heights (the old stompin' grounds) and then into Ft. Union (the other old stompin' grounds), back up the western section of Creek, on 13th to the in-laws neighborhood and around just a little to hit the mileage.  (Oregon 209.5)

Week was pretty decent, especially for all singles (and the slow beginning to the week).  Enjoyed the festivities of the week and my trail running.

Goals for next week:  I think I will back off just a little and then get back into some 100's to end off the year.  So next week would be good to back off since I am busy on Thurs-Sat down at Foot Locker anyway.
