AM - 11.5 Twix/Sand Hill. What a crapper. I thought I would be feeling decent after cutting the miles last week, but I must be a little sick. After taking a quick stop before starting the hill, started feeling really sick. Fell way off the group within just a few hundred meters. Ended up just hiking almost the whole thing up and down. Then struggled on in. Abs before. (Speedgoat 274)

AM - 8.5 Twix/Half and Half. Tried to grab a little extra sleep to see if that rest helped me feel any better. A little with Twix and then some road and grass. Felt pretty decent today, but it was super easy. Kids club was pretty intense and fun. (Peg Oly 526.5)

afternoon - 2.5 DI. Run then weights. Abs after. (Ran in an old pair of retired Peg Blacks - don’t know why)

AM - 12 Twix/DM. A bit with the dog and the tempo on the Dirt Mile. A few more guys dared to go with the Varsity. Those who are coming to practice are really doing well and growing as a team and individually. Me personally - did okay, fell off the last two minutes, but stomach felt much better and I think I’m on the mend. Abs before. (Peg purple 216.75)

AM - 11 Twix/Prospector. Abs then but with the dog. Pretty slow pace. Team ran out to Grapevine and the upper level runners continued on to Prospector. Right after going through the tunnel, Decker had stopped the girls with a rattlesnake on the trail. It was a nice size fella with very deep dark distinguished patterns. (Peg black33 588)

afternoon - 2.75 DI. Weights and a little heat run. A little cooler today with clouds in the area, but still no rain on us. (Peg blue 631.75)

AM - 8.25 Twix/BHNP.  A couple of slow miles with Twix.  Achilles was really putting up a fight today.  Then a few laps around the BHNP and out along the river trail.  I was really holding the group back today, but they just chilled with me.  Finished off witha little with Elin. (Ravenna 227)

morning - 13.75 Sand Hill/Bracken’s Loop. Good morning in the desert. The last two evenings we have had significant rainfall right in top of us in Washington. And last night was one of the biggest storms I ever remember - not even speaking in hyperbole, I would guess we’ll over an inch in half an hour and then continued rain for another hour or more. In the desert, that is a lot of rain. So I went down to Main Street to see the destruction. It was like what you see on tv - red mud everywhere, chunks of cement from sidewalks in the middle of the road, roads undercut and washed out, mud up into people’s houses; bumma. Into the desert you could see where all the mud came from - all the day washes were washed out, trails had been turned into flash flood washes, all loose sand was gone and rocks were everywhere. The power of the water must have been amazing. Sand Hill was in the best shape I’ve ever run in it. The only other tracks were a set of small coyote or large fox tracks that went all the way up and down the backside. And I crushed it. 9:39 up and 5:22 down. Both records. But when I added them for the total I was slightly bummed to see that I was at 15:01... ahhh! Way good though, especially after feeling so heinous on Monday. This coming Monday, I plan not to pushed hard up, rather station myself part way to help encourage the team, so I won’t get a time in it then. Decided to continue around Bracken’s Loop. Hiked up one of the big sandstone outlooks and just chilled for awhile. There is nothing in the world like the morning after a rainstorm in the desert - so peaceful, clean and fresh. I just meditated up there for a good half hour. After hiking down, I continued around the loop. The trials had been pretty washed out, but all things considered were in great condition.
