Weights and then a hot run. (Pace blue 219)
Tue, 17 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jul 16, 2018
AM - 13.25 Twix/Sand Hill. Abs and then some with the dog followed by Sand Hill. Ran more with some of the crew toward the back to help them out a bit. Team did very well today. I, however, can barely walk because both achilles (but especially the right) are so inflammed. (Adios 505)
Mon, 16 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Jul 14, 2018
morning - 13.75 Sand Hill/Bracken’s Loop. Good morning in the desert. The last two evenings we have had significant rainfall right in top of us in Washington. And last night was one of the biggest storms I ever remember - not even speaking in hyperbole, I would guess we’ll over an inch in half an hour and then continued rain for another hour or more. In the desert, that is a lot of rain. So I went down to Main Street to see the destruction. It was like what you see on tv - red mud everywhere, chunks of cement from sidewalks in the middle of the road, roads undercut and washed out, mud up into people’s houses; bumma. Into the desert you could see where all the mud came from - all the day washes were washed out, trails had been turned into flash flood washes, all loose sand was gone and rocks were everywhere. The power of the water must have been amazing. Sand Hill was in the best shape I’ve ever run in it. The only other tracks were a set of small coyote or large fox tracks that went all the way up and down the backside. And I crushed it. 9:39 up and 5:22 down. Both records. But when I added them for the total I was slightly bummed to see that I was at 15:01... ahhh! Way good though, especially after feeling so heinous on Monday. This coming Monday, I plan not to pushed hard up, rather station myself part way to help encourage the team, so I won’t get a time in it then. Decided to continue around Bracken’s Loop. Hiked up one of the big sandstone outlooks and just chilled for awhile. There is nothing in the world like the morning after a rainstorm in the desert - so peaceful, clean and fresh. I just meditated up there for a good half hour. After hiking down, I continued around the loop. The trials had been pretty washed out, but all things considered were in great condition. (Sense 358.5)
Sat, 14 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Jul 13, 2018
AM - 8.25 Twix/BHNP. A couple of slow miles with Twix. Achilles was really putting up a fight today. Then a few laps around the BHNP and out along the river trail. I was really holding the group back today, but they just chilled with me. Finished off witha little with Elin. (Ravenna 227)
Fri, 13 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Jul 12, 2018
AM - 11 Twix/Prospector. Abs then but with the dog. Pretty slow pace. Team ran out to Grapevine and the upper level runners continued on to Prospector. Right after going through the tunnel, Decker had stopped the girls with a rattlesnake on the trail. It was a nice size fella with very deep dark distinguished patterns. (Peg black33 588)

afternoon - 2.75 DI. Weights and a little heat run. A little cooler today with clouds in the area, but still no rain on us. (Peg blue 631.75)
Thu, 12 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Jul 11, 2018
AM - 12 Twix/DM. A bit with the dog and the tempo on the Dirt Mile. A few more guys dared to go with the Varsity. Those who are coming to practice are really doing well and growing as a team and individually. Me personally - did okay, fell off the last two minutes, but stomach felt much better and I think I’m on the mend. Abs before. (Peg purple 216.75)
Wed, 11 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jul 10, 2018
AM - 8.5 Twix/Half and Half. Tried to grab a little extra sleep to see if that rest helped me feel any better. A little with Twix and then some road and grass. Felt pretty decent today, but it was super easy. Kids club was pretty intense and fun. (Peg Oly 526.5)

afternoon - 2.5 DI. Run then weights. Abs after. (Ran in an old pair of retired Peg Blacks - don’t know why)
Tue, 10 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jul 09, 2018
AM - 11.5 Twix/Sand Hill. What a crapper. I thought I would be feeling decent after cutting the miles last week, but I must be a little sick. After taking a quick stop before starting the hill, started feeling really sick. Fell way off the group within just a few hundred meters. Ended up just hiking almost the whole thing up and down. Then struggled on in. Abs before. (Speedgoat 274)
Mon, 09 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Jul 07, 2018
morning - 8 Dimple Dell. Ran in the gully. Stayed up high on the North Rum Trail. Really spent and not feeling great. (Ravenna 219.75)
Sat, 07 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Jul 06, 2018
morning - 7 Bear Lake. Out and back into town. Feeling pretty worn down. (Ravenna 211.75)
Fri, 06 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Jul 05, 2018
morning - 9 Bear Lake. Did a loop’ish around the golf course. (Peg purple 204.75)
Thu, 05 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Jul 04, 2018
morning - 9 Bear Lake. A little tired, so decided to keep it chill. Started out going across the road from the condo, but then started up the mountain and felt a lot better and the run turned out pretty good. (Ravenna 204.75)
Wed, 04 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jul 03, 2018
morning - 10 Bear Lake. Ran from the condo up the paved trail into town and beyond. (Peg purple 195.75)
Tue, 03 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jul 02, 2018
Morning - 11.5 BST. Ran along the BST from whatever the park is in Sandy where the road bends. It was a good run. Did a strong push on the way back and hit a big negative split. (Ravenna 195.75)
Mon, 02 Jul 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Jun 30, 2018
morning - 12.5 Baldy. And insane adventure with the PVXC boys for Renegade camp. Last year we couldn’t do this because of the rain and some who wouldn’t have been able to complete it. I had an idea what we were getting into, but I really had no idea! We parked at Mud Lake and ran/hiked Mt. Shelby. It was beautiful. The view to Baldy we’re just off the charts, but this one was tough and it made me realize Baldy was going to be over the top. So we dropped off the mountain sometimes bushwhacking, sometimes on a trail. The best (and very cool) runnable section was from here down to Blue Lake. The blueness of the lake was jaw dropping. We finally hit the lake and started the climb to Baldy. Once we got above the tree line things got crazy. It was so hard. I was worried about the boys and I was worried about myself. It was a thousand vertical feet of scree climbing. You just had to keep moving because you would lose half your progress sliding back down. There were the cool fossils for the whole climb. When we finally made it to the top, we weren’t sure how to get down. The way we wanted to go just had more climbing up another hill, but felt less safe. So we decided to ski the scree down the whole peak back to the lake. It took forever even though the time we were just sliding - 45 mins down and tons of ankle destroying rocks. The big prob with this was now we’re back at the lake and had to climb all the way back to the road and everyone was spent. Basically we hiked the rest of the way out. This was super challenging and very soul-finding. Everyone one of us found ourselves just trusting the others to keep us going and safe. It was such a huge accomplishment; exactly what a team camp should pull out of you. Check out @pvxctrack on Insta or Twitter for some amazing pics. (Speedgoat 262.5)
Sat, 30 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Jun 29, 2018
AM - 12.5 Twix/Coral Canyon. A bit with Twix and in Coral Canyon out toward the industrial park with the team. Good run. Kids are working hard.

evening - 2 Delano. Our hike to Delano became a run. I love it up there. Stoked and nervous for tomorrow (Peg oly 518)
Fri, 29 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Jun 28, 2018
AM - 12.25 Twix/GS. Nice and easy with the dog and then ran with the girls. They are a good crew; hopefully they keep making personal and team gains. (Peg purple 185.75)
Thu, 28 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Jun 27, 2018
AM - 13.25 Parkway/DM. Parkway with Twix. It was a pretty slow pace. A lot of physical fatigue this morning. Felt way hard running with the boys as we warmed up for the tempo. Had originally planned on running with the girls, but like none of them were there, so I figured Robs would have it all under control! Got the tempo going and I just stayed off the back and tried to let the team learn and grow, ocassionally I would give some advice (sometimes a little more pursuasively than others). They did a good job and rolled with it pretty well for the requisite 17 mins. Then cooled. (Boston 429.25)

noon - abs and 15 min swim
Wed, 27 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jun 26, 2018
AM - 10.5 Twix/Half and Half. Pretty much a usual day. I’m really proud of how hard the team is working... I’m really worried about how few kids are out and sticking. Kids Clyb had some epic racing! (Kinvara grey 205.5)

afternoon - abs. Had more stuff to do, so I didn't get weights in with the team. And they already ran at their party, so I didn't run (which is okay; doubles are tough on my sad achilles).
Tue, 26 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jun 25, 2018
AM - 13 DM/Sand Hill. A little with the dog then practice up the Sand Hill. Some strong runs and some room for improvement from the team. I ran quite a bit better than Saturday. 10:45 or so up (over 2 mins better) and 5:56 down (1 min better - and the fastest in the day; probs the record) for around a 16:40 total. Abs after. (Speedgoat 250)
Mon, 25 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Jun 23, 2018
morning - 10.5 Sand Hill. Took Twix out for just a little. Then ran Sand Hill and marked the top for our run on Monday. I stopped at the top and just enjoyed the view - it is without a doubt the best view of everything around. Push up was okay (12:50) and down seemed good (6:50)(19:40 total). Will try to improve on that on Monday. It is super sandy and dry up there right now. (Speedgoat 237)
Sat, 23 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Jun 22, 2018
AM - 10.5 DM/Confluence. Abs and a little with Twix, just enough to get her out for the day and sleep a few minutes extra. Good negative split run from the Confluence into Green Valley. I enjoy running out there. (Peg black 577)
Fri, 22 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Jun 21, 2018
AM - 11.25 Twix/BV. Abs and some more legs with Twix. Then ran with the girls around town for a bit. Was able to get some weights in today. (Peg oly 516)
Thu, 21 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Jun 20, 2018
AM - 12.75 Twix/City Wells. Abs and then some with Twix. Ran with the JV boys on the way up City Wells and then we joined the V guys on back. What we are lacking for in numbers, kids are making up for in effort. Although I was a bit tired today, it was nice to be able to run and walk and not be in severe pain like last week. Guess the shoes instead of barefoot were just what the doc ordered - just a bummer that I can’t go barefoot. I love barefoot running. Ended with a little with E. (Peg Purple 173.5)
Wed, 20 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jun 19, 2018
AM - 12 Twix/Half & Half. Abs and then with Twix around the neighborhoods. Kept my shoes on at practice today. I know that is what has been adding the extra strain on the achilles (barefooting), I just wish it wasn’t. Didn’t get any weights in today because I had to do a few things at school. (Kinvara grey 195)
Tue, 19 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jun 18, 2018
AM - 14 Twix/ND. Abs and a bit with Twix before a long run with the team. They did a very good job and a lot of longest runs ever for the younger/newer kids. (Ravenna 184.25)

afternoon - good batch of swimming at the lake
Mon, 18 Jun 2018 06:00:00
