late morning - 6.55 into Washington and around Green Springs from PVHS. We are testing out the block schedule today and right now I am not complaining because I was able to go for a run during my prep. Paid for the 10K Saturday and then tried to get a general idea of the course. I don't have a map of it, but I know the general idea and have a very good knowledge of the area (since I have been running in the area since I could tie my own shoes). The .85 mile seems to be a gradual incline up under the freeway. Then a big drop for 200 meters into Mill Creek then gradual hills up into Green Springs until about mile 2.7 or so. From here the race has a general downhill feel as it loops back around - except the steep climb back out of Mill Creek. I am pretty sure this is the basic idea of the course for the Cotton Days 10K down here in Washington. It won't be the fastest course, but I really know the area and I hope that can counter some of the hills. (Glycerin 341.45)

early afternoon - 6.2 Foremaster from PVHS.  A second nice easy run today.  One thing I really am trying to do is keep my easy runs easy.  Today's averages of 7:20 and 7:12 were both just right.  Now off to region track! (Glycerin 347.65)

I was waiting for your response, but it is all good. Actually, your post really got me thinking yesterday, it is nice sometimes to have other people motivate you and tell you that you have more potential than you think you have. I really do have some big training plans for the summer. What time is the race Saturday morning? We have our father and sons campout and my boys are really wanting to go, but I also wouldn't mind running a 10K. I think you would really like the block schedule. I'll be going back to a traditional next year out at Hurricane Intermediate. I've heard I'll be starting at 7:35 and getting out around 1:55, that should give me plenty of time to train in the afternoon, just need to get up around 5:30 or 6 each more and doing some easy miles.

Man, that will be great schedule for easy few miles in the morning and big workouts in the afternoon. Race is at 7:00, so maybe a little early to get back from camping (depending on where your at), but it might be a good race for 1/2 prep.

Good miles so far this week. Good luck at region, and at the race this weekend.

I can tell your thinking about running this 10 k around 33-34 right! your going to win! Just be gentle when you run over my back!

From Dave Holt on Wed, May 09, 2007 at 17:14:55

Depending on the course - low 33, 32. Please! (in a begging tone to the ghosts of running).

Hey, if Shaye trips in both her hurdles and the Lundgrens both get violently sick tonight, we might have a chance at the region title! Well...we'll for sure get our 2nd place goal! I'm going for 40 points all the way!!!

coach I am sorry if I am ever one of those jerks at track, I don't mean to be.

I am going to try and make up some of the end of level test tomorrow (thur.) at lunch if that's ok.
