morning - 2 AC(short).  Ran with Colton out toward Arctic Circle and back.  I stop in at the PT and had him look at my leg before to evaluate if it was a tear.  He said it didn't have the misshaped look of a tear and he could feel anything, so probably just a nasty knot that may have set off some nerve stuff.  Felt decent this morning, but there was a lot of tightness and I won't do anything else today despite really wanting to get out and just "run it out".  (Landreth blue 824.65)

I read some of Meb's stuff about his training and overcoming injury this spring that has given me a little hope.  Sure I am not at his level, but I have a very large base and perform pretty well even when I haven't hit a lot of hard stuff (like this winter's halves), so maybe 6-7 weeks of hard work can take me to a decent time still.

You've run a lot of marathons and have a lot of lifetime miles in the legs. That counts for a lot. Meb is really the perfect example of how you can come into a race a little bit "undertrained", but w/ lots of experience and knowing how to race smart, you can still pop off a pretty good one.

Good news. I have no doubts you can still put together a sucessfull race.

Sounds like you have the best attitude to get there.

Hope you continue to feel better!

Hope it's on the mend. You'll still run amazing at stg.

Thanks guys. You know sometimes when you are hurting and stuff you feel like you are totally isolated, but then you just remember that everyone has gone through the same sort of thing many times and it gives you some good comfort that you'll make it through fine.

Yeah, keep the positive attitude Dave. You'll be back to form soon. Remember STG last year and the strong group of guys we had together late into the race? We've got to do that again and you've got to be there! Except this time you're going sub-2:30.

From Fritz on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 23:03:19 from 76.27.28.67

bummer that you are on the IR. But like everyone said, you have a huge base and a little time away from running shouldn't affect your fitness much. Hope to see you at STG.

From Holt on Wed, Aug 15, 2012 at 13:13:45 from 204.113.55.41

Glad to hear you guys (Justin/Fritz) are coming down. That pack last year was epic. I wasn't anywhere near 2:30 shape, but the pack nearly got me there!
