AM - 6x1000. Warmed up with Arctic Circle 3 with first group of runners. Then hit the track as the 2nd group ran for 1000's with 200 recovery. 1-3:31, 2-3;32, 3-3:34, 4-3:38, 5-3:37, 6-3:31. I am in kind of a funk. My body has decided to go slow and my mind is agreeing with it. Times were a bit slower than they needed to be. I just really kept drifting off mentally; then I would find myself in a jog until I snapped out of it. Not pleased with the workout - my effort on the workout, I should say. Then cooled down with the 3rd group as they did the Arctic Circle 3. (Cumulus orange 327.9)

PM - 7 Grapevine Springs Trail (North) - Nice run up the trail and back.  Felt pretty good and had an enjoyable experience.  Went quicker when I felt like it - which was actually much of the run. (Glycerin 489.75)

Sounds like you have hit a Training plateau. Change things up a little. Run with out your Garmin a few times. Make sure your easy days are really easy! Cut back on your mileage by 20 to 30 percent for one week. Call the Wild Bull out and run him into the ground:):) Good luck Dave.

I just had an epiphany! The reason I am struggling is because I trimmed my (so called) beard for school. Luckily I didn't shave it all the way, so it will be back soon and things will get back to normal.

And you thought the beard was bad, Bill.

Sasha, I'll have to get my watch for exact times, but mostly mid to high 3:30's. My best one was the last where I forced myself to make the last 400 the fastest (but I still only hit it in 3:32 with a 1:20 final 400)

Anytime I can find a new running route that helps some. Also changing types of workouts sometimes helps. Also, look at it as only about 7 more weeks until the marathon. Another advantage you would have would be relying some on your cross country team to help you out. I know you're worried about helping them as much as possible, but continue to find joy in watching them succeed with their running. When I was coaching, I would work in an occasional game of ultimate football or a scavenger hunt, some other game where they were running almost the whole time, but also having fun. I would guess as adults if there is anyway to bring some of that fun into our training it would probably help. Now, I know we won't be planning any club scavenger runs, mainly because Bill is banned from most places in town and we're serious adults, but I really enjoyed training and running in the Wasatch Back Relay. I'm kind of like you Dave, I'm getting a little burned out with the running thing,and I don't even do as many miles as you. I really think after St. George I need to find a new marathon to train for, some place I haven't been and a race I haven't done. Anyway, those are just some of my ramblings.

hey dave, i have marveled at the kind of mileage that you put in. maybe week of rest would be beneficial. under training for a week would be better than over training for a week considering your recent race. take a day or two off and then do a shorter faster run to give you a boost. good luck. i'm running on ave about a third of the mileage you are and i'm getting burned out.
