AM - 7.75 DM. Abs then about 30 mins with Twix. Then the 1st day of practice. Always takes a bit of time to go over things, but eventually we got to running and hit another 30 up on the DM. It is going to be a fun year - fun to see the transition of all these young kids and young to now old kids.

afternoon - 20min open water swim at Quail and some good solid paddle boarding.

AM - 11 Twix/Grass. Around 6 with Twix down on our Bella Vista loop. Then 1/2 Road, 1/2 Grass for practice. Striders felt good and didn’t stress my hammies. Kids club went well with a very big crew of Youbgsters there. Abs before. (Barefoot 3)(Boston 405)

AM - 9 DM/Tortoise. Ran a few laps with Twix on the DM. Achilles were very tight and took a long time to warm up - I’m sure it was the barefooting yesterday. Then up into the desert. Ran with the girls and some of the JV guys. It was great running with them. Abs before. (Peg Black33 553.5)

morning - 9.5 Highland. Really tired and flat today. Never snapped out of it. Took Twix a mile around the block. Planned on getting a decent run on Prospector, but just couldn’t anything going. Instead went up on Highland and ran the trail up there. Stopped for awhile, sat on a bench, and just enjoyed the morning view toward Zion. Got back and ran a mile with Elin. (Speedgoat 218.25)

AM - 11 DM/Highland. Couldn’t sleep last night, so when I finally slept I didn’t want to get up. Ran a few on the DM with Twix. Then ran with the girls up to the top of the Coral Canyon hill. It was a strong run for them. Ran with E when I got back and then did my abs. (Cumulus 411.75)

afternoon - some swimming

AM - 13 Grapevine/GS. Abs. Ran out to Lower Grapevine with Twix. Then up around Green Spring with the team. A lot of summer stuff has taken quite a hit into our numbers. What can you do?  Those that want it will run anyway, those that don’t will look for anyway out. Weights after. (Peg Black33 566.5)

Rough night of sleep (or lack thereof) made it so I didn’t get up in time to run before Laney’s meet.  Chalked it up as recovery for my destroyed achilles.

AM - 14 Twix/ND. Abs and a bit with Twix before a long run with the team. They did a very good job and a lot of longest runs ever for the younger/newer kids. (Ravenna 184.25)

AM - 12 Twix/Half & Half. Abs and then with Twix around the neighborhoods. Kept my shoes on at practice today. I know that is what has been adding the extra strain on the achilles (barefooting), I just wish it wasn’t. Didn’t get any weights in today because I had to do a few things at school. AM - 12.75 Twix/City Wells. Abs and then some with Twix. Ran with the JV boys on the way up City Wells and then we joined the V guys on back. What we are lacking for in numbers, kids are making up for in effort. Although I was a bit tired today, it was nice to be able to run and walk and not be in severe pain like last week. Guess the shoes instead of barefoot were just what the doc ordered - just a bummer that I can’t go barefoot. I love barefoot running. Ended with a little with E. (Peg Purple 173.5)

morning - 10.5 Sand Hill. Took Twix out for just a little. Then ran Sand Hill and marked the top for our run on Monday. I stopped at the top and just enjoyed the view - it is without a doubt the best view of everything around. Push up was okay (12:50) and down seemed  good (6:50)(19:40 total). Will try to improve on that on Monday. It is super sandy and dry up there right now. (Speedgoat 237)

AM - 13 DM/Sand Hill. A little with the dog then practice up the Sand Hill. Some strong runs and some room for improvement from the team. I ran quite a bit better than Saturday. 10:45 or so up (over 2 mins better) and 5:56 down (1 min better - and the fastest in the day; probs the record) for around a 16:40 total. Abs after. AM - 10.5 Twix/Half and Half. Pretty much a usual day. I’m really proud of how hard the team is working... I’m really worried about how few kids are out and sticking. Kids Clyb had some epic racing!  (Kinvara grey 205.5)

afternoon - abs. Had more stuff to do, so I didn't get weights in with the team.  And they already ran at their party, so I didn't run (which is okay; doubles are tough on my sad achilles).

AM - 13.25 Parkway/DM.  Parkway with Twix.  It was a pretty slow pace.  A lot of physical fatigue this morning.  Felt way hard running with the boys as we warmed up for the tempo.  Had originally planned on running with the girls, but like none of them were there, so I figured Robs would have it all under control! Got the tempo going and I just stayed off the back and tried to let the team learn and grow, ocassionally I would give some advice (sometimes a little more pursuasively than others).  They did a good job and rolled with it pretty well for the requisite 17 mins.  Then cooled.  (Boston 429.25)

morning - 12.5 Baldy. And insane adventure with the PVXC boys for Renegade camp. Last year we couldn’t do this because of the rain and some who wouldn’t have been able to complete it. I had an idea what we were getting into, but I really had no idea! We parked at Mud Lake and ran/hiked Mt. Shelby. It was beautiful. The view to Baldy we’re just off the charts, but this one was tough and it made me realize Baldy was going to be over the top. So we dropped off the mountain sometimes bushwhacking, sometimes on a trail. The best (and very cool) runnable section was from here down to Blue Lake. The blueness of the lake was jaw dropping. We finally hit the lake and started the climb to Baldy. Once we got above the tree line things got crazy. It was so hard. I was worried about the boys and I was worried about myself. It was a thousand vertical feet of scree climbing. You just had to keep moving because you would lose half your progress sliding back down. There were the cool fossils for the whole climb. When we finally made it to the top, we weren’t sure how to get down. The way we wanted to go just had more climbing up another hill, but felt less safe. So we decided to ski the scree down the whole peak back to the lake. It took forever even though the time we were just sliding - 45 mins down and tons of ankle destroying rocks. The big prob with this was now we’re back at the lake and had to climb all the way back to the road and everyone was spent. Basically we hiked the rest of the way out. This was super challenging and very soul-finding. Everyone one of us found ourselves just trusting the others to keep us going and safe. It was such a huge accomplishment; exactly what a team camp should pull out of you. Check out @pvxctrack on Insta or Twitter for some amazing pics. (Speedgoat 262.5)
